ABOUT US ------------------------------------------------- "passion before commerce" - brian eno anniedale records was created as a artist-run label in the spring of 2002 with the express purpose of releasing quality music from like-minded individuals who, although lacking in label status, are creating interesting and moving music, deserving of wider attention. it is our aim that, through the association of a small cluster of talented artists, each individual band or artist would benefit from the connected resources and fanbases. anniedale is less about genre than it is about good music. we are inspired by the collaborative and multi disciplenary works of people behind the department of safety, the (sugar refinery) and arts and crafts. they remind us that there are new ways to do things. ways that don't see the artist as the bottom of the food chain. you can actually do a lot on your own if you really want to. you can do even more if you have there are a few of you. life is too short to waste your time waiting for them to come to you. so get up. and do something. now. ------------------------------------------------- DEMO POLICY: one thing that i have found in the past few years is that basically indie labels represent groups of friends. in the same way anniedale records represents a community of bands. it will probably grow and isn't meant to represent a specific geographic region but we probably aren't likely to put out cds by bands that we don't know. but that said - we are all about community and would love to connect with different bands in and out of town so by all means send us your stuff. maybe you can convince us we are wrong or that you have a great idea for helping us do a better job of getting this music out there. either way, snail mail is the way to get music to us. please don't email mp3s - they are too big!
